The Global Health Consortium at Stempel College has announced that this year’s Global Health Conference of the Americas will take place in Cartagena, Colombia, on December 2-5, 2021.

The conference will tackle some of the world’s most pressing health challenges and provide a platform for global health experts to discuss solutions that are vital for the overall health of communities. Key themes include the coronavirus pandemic, its impact on the healthcare community, and what a future post-COVID-19 could look like. In addition, this year’s conference will include sessions focusing on immunization challenges in Latin America, antimicrobial resistance, arbovirus, environment and health, digital health, and more.

“Events like this are needed now more than ever so we can overcome the challenges brought on by this pandemic, build solutions and impact lives on a global scale,” said Carlos Espinal, Director of the Global Health Consortium.

This conference is hosted by the Global Health Consortium at Stempel College, in partnership with the Sociedad Colombiana de Pediatría, Pan American Health Organization and the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. Simultaneous translation will be available for English and Spanish speakers.

Last year’s Global Health Conference of the Americas featured 73 global experts, including a keynote by the president of Colombia, Iván Duque Márquez. More than 2,500 attendees—representing over 60 different countries from India and Indonesia to Finland, France, Colombia and Cambodia—registered for the event.

Information about this year’s conference, including how to register, will be available in the coming weeks at ghc.fiu.edu .
